A femur was found...

On the 26th (Thursday) 1999, working in a stone-pit near the village Turnava (Vratza province), the excavator operator, Ivan Todorov came across an unusual find. He quickly realized that fragments in front of him are not rocks, but bones of prehistoric animal. The bones were excavated under the supervision of dr. Ivan Raichev head of the "Nature" department of the museum in Pleven.
It was a femur - 181 cm long, and weighs 50kg. It is presumed that the bone belongs to a mammal from Proboscidea phylum - Archidiscodont or Deinoterium. They existed 5 million years ago in Pliocene and Pleistocene and roam these territories.
With the finds during year 2000 - ribs, arm bones and joint pits, which are not only from this animals shows, that this is a rich find with a lot of miseries yet to be discovered.
